Jim Saulnier
JIM SAULNIER, CFP® is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional who specializes in retirement planning, and is the owner of Jim Saulnier and Associates in Fort Collins, CO.
Jim took the long road to becoming a retirement planner. He originally earned his bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in natural resources from the University of Massachusetts and became a certified arborist. Over time, Jim found he enjoyed a higher level of public service and became a police officer for the city of New Bedford, MA. He also entered graduate school and earned his master’s degree (magna cum laude) in criminal justice from Anna Maria College. After serving seven years on the street patrol division and SRT (Special Response Team), Jim suffered an on-duty injury that eventually led to him enrolling in the Financial Planning Program at Boston University in 1995 where he went on to pass the CFP®certification exam – proof that he has met some of the highest educational and ethical standards in the financial planning industry.
In 1999 Jim moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and established his retirement planning practice, Jim Saulnier and Associates. Since then, Jim’s knowledge and expertise have been acknowledged and referenced both locally and nationally in publications including the Wall Street Journal, Smart Money Magazine, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Financial Planning and Investment News. Jim continues to maintain and improve his knowledge of retirement income planning, IRA issues and the nuances of Social Security through his participation in the Ed Slott Master Elite IRA Advisor Group and the Financial Planning Association.
Chris Stein
Chris Stein, CFP® is a full-time instructor at Colorado State University in the Finance department and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He also works in the offices of Jim Saulnier and Associates.
Originally from Casper, Wyoming, Chris received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming before relocating to Fort Collins to attend graduate school. After receiving his master’s degree in Finance from CSU, Chris spent the following 14 years in an entrepreneurial role in the wireless communications industry. During that time he developed many key business relationships that eventually led him to work with several real estate investor groups as a research consultant. Chris always enjoyed educating and training others so it was a logical step for him to return to academia, but now as an instructor. With his background in finance and teaching, Chris has a knack for explaining topics relating to retirement planning on the radio show. He also takes great pleasure in dominating students less than half his age at the latest video games.
